Annual Plan (2015–2016)

Every year, the Carlisle Barracks and Cumberland Valley Chapter of the AUSA publishes an annual plan. The plan, that is developed under the direction of the chapter president and approved by the board of directors, establishes the program of chapter meetings and activities for the operational year, running from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016.

This year’s plan highlights a number of activities to support the fulfilment of the Chapter’s objectives that include:

  • Provide and support activities that benefit chapter membership and the Carlisle Barracks, Letterkenny Army Depot and Cumberland Valley communities.
  • Increase individual and corporate membership
  • Translate AUSA’s professional and educational mission and objectives into Chapter activities
  • Provide and support activities that benefit Chapter membership and our communities
  • Promote and increase individual and corporate community involvement in Chapter activities
  • Improve Chapter communications via various interpersonal means and the web
  • Improve soldier activities in the chapter
  • Attain Chapter of Excellence status.

Plan Highlights

  1. General Membership Meetings. Meetings are tentatively schedule to be held in October 2015, February 2016, and April 2016 (specific dates to be determined). An Army Birthday Meeting is scheduled to be held on 11 June 2016 with Carlisle Barracks Soldiers attending as guests of honor – an event co-hosted with the Army Heritage and Education Center and the US Army War College Foundation.
  2. Membership Activities. This remains a priority focus – to increase individual and corporate membership – specifically to reverse the declining membership numbers we have experienced in more recent years. A main event is the general membership drive that begins with an initial summer drive to target the incoming US Army War College class and newly assigned Soldiers to Carlisle Barracks. Our spring effort focuses on permanent party Soldiers and retirees. While our corporate membership remains fairly strong with just under 50 members, we are always looking for ways to increase community awareness and participation by businesses within the CBCV Chapter region.
  3. Special Projects.   Support is provided to various military organizations for selected ceremonies and events. This year’s plan calls for CB/CV Chapter support for many activities:
  • The Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve Birthdays
  • AUSA National Convention (12-14 Oct 2015) in Washington DC
  • Army War College events to include the 12 August 2015 County Fair, the Strategic Art Film Program, and the Spring 2016 Jim Thorpe Sports Day
  • Army Heritage and Education Center activities
  • Community services and various morale and welfare activities like the 10 October 2015 Carlisle Barracks Retiree Appreciation Day and community volunteer recognition
  • The CB/CV Chapter sponsored Annual Golf Tournament scheduled to be held 22 August 2015, and the 2016 Annual Scholarship Program
  • Awards for outstanding Soldiers and ROTC students
  • Army Wounded Warrior support

While this year’s plan is aggressive, it supports a worthy cause and ultimately helps the Chapter fulfill its efforts to strengthen our Army and support our Soldiers. We invite everyone to review the plan and to become contributing AUSA members today!
