President’s Welcome and Update

Welcome to the Association of the United States Army and the Carlisle Barracks and Cumberland Valley Chapter!

For those who were unable to attend our Special Meeting and Luncheon on January 19, 2017, we recognized and thanked Jerry Comello for his many years of service and then I assumed the Chapter Presidency.  With over 50 members attending, the event was a nice tribute to the history of the Chapter and recognition that its efforts to support Soldiers, their families, veterans and the local community remains an enduring an important mission.

COL(Ret) Ruth Collins, former Board Member and current President and CEO of the Army War College Foundation, relating the history of the Chapter’s founding on November 1st, 2001. She also presented a scrap book that highlighted events from the first seven years of the Chapter when Jerry Comello served as its first President.

LTG(Ret) Guy Swan, AUSA National VP for Education, attended to present Jerry a special award and certificate of appreciation signed by the CEO and President of AUSA, GEN(Ret) Carter Ham, and he also swore me in as the new Chapter President.  Other guests in attendance included Mr. Frank Zolla, AUSA First Region President, COL Ken Adgie, US Army War College Deputy Commandant, and past and current members of the Chapter Board of Directors.

Chapter Secretary, Dr. George Woods, presents Jerry an engraved AUSA Medallion as a small token of gratitude from the Chapter Board.
