AUSA Supports the 2017 Friends of Scouting Campaign

In a first-time effort to expand our reach in supporting the community, the Carlisle Barracks and Cumberland Valley Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) supported the Boy Scouts of America New Birth of Freedom Council 2017 Friends of Scouting (FOS) fundraising campaign.  Chapter President, COL (Ret) Robert Hume, joined the FOS committee and hosted a table at the annual FOS Breakfast – the main event that brings together caring community individuals and corporate sponsors who contribute to the Scouting program.

This years event proved to be a huge success!  It was held on April 27, 2017 at the Carlisle Country Club, and it was the first time AUSA has weighed-in to help support the event.  The Chapter was recognized during the event for being a “Star Scout” sponsor for donating $500.  The Chapter also had several individual members attend and make additional contributions which further helped the campaign reach and actually surpass their 2017 goals.  As the New Birth of Freedom District Director Kevin Gill reported, “this year’s event exceeded all expectations and raised over $30,000 which surpassed our $25,000 goal!”

“This is the type of partnering we hope to do in the future and will continue to seek opportunities to support those organizations who make our community strong.”
